Minerva Pardo – Family Engagement Counselor from the West Valley School District & Susan Martin – Owner/Manager of SL Martin Consulting
Our featured speakers will identify and address family issues and resources they use improving the lives of children and adults.
Ms. Pardo, originally from Mexico City, came to Yakima in 2012. To date she has earned a B.A.in Psychology and in Bilingual education. In addition to her current employment at West Valley School District where she teaches “Protective Factors”; a resource minimizing and preventing abuse and neglect in children. Ms. Pardo in addition to teaching and counseling she is working and completing her Master’s Degree. Ms. Pardo is a trainer for the National Alliance of Children Trust and Funds where she trains staff who directly or indirectly work with families and children.
Susan Martin lives in Yakima and is self employed as a consultant (SL Martin Consulting LLC) providing training and technical assistance to agencies, schools, and childcare centers across the country. As a Family and Consumer Scientist, she works to improve the lives of individuals; believing that strong individuals create stable, productive families, which in turn leads to stronger communities. Susan is a graduate of WSU and has a Masters of Education from Central WA University. She is the married mother of three adult daughters.
